Souljah Souljah (All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin’ Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin’ Souljah)
Straight Souljah
June 16, 1971 was the day your legacy had begun even though you were only 25 when you died you accomplished so much in your short life the music you made the movies in which you played made you a renaissance man and gained you many a fan I remember the first time I heard “I Get Around” ever since then I've been down I have to have all your shit but these days weak producers ruin it they water it down and give it a pop sound shit they couldn't do if you were around but I still feel ya muthafuckaz can't kill ya Me Against The World was your finest pearl always poetic yet sadly prophetic and The 7 Day Theory always stays near me all your shit's essential ‘cause it expresses all the shit that you went through you left so many jewels and taught so many rules M.O.B. that's money over bitches gotta keep ya mind on ya riches ‘cause if I ain't sharp and heartless these bitches'll start shit you inspired a whole generation you were the voice for the youth of this nation describing our struggle and frustration we feel it ‘cause it wasn't just words you were sayin’ you were a real cat and you proved that through your trials and tribulations even African tribes are familiar with your rhymes I give you full respect ‘cause music's my existence and you're forever the best in the business even when it seems like nobody cares your music is always right there I wish I could be just like you but it'd be fake for me to even try to ‘cause you're one of a kind so I gotta stay in my own mind I never had a positive role model so I turned to Pac instead of that ol’ bottle
(All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah like Pac All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin’ Souljah)
cat's say they love Hip-Hop but they don't dig 2Pac then when you find out to whom they listen you find that's a contradiction ‘cause 2Pac made the game what it is today and all the cats whose CD you’ve got are just some two cent 2Pacs because of you everybody's a thug and not enough of ‘em show you love now that you're not around cats sample you like James Brown but to emulate you only makes sense ‘cause you're the muthafuckin’ best but some do it with disrespect they take your words to ride on their enemies all the time talkin’ about "I wrote these" some claim to be the greatest of all-time maybe they never heard one of your rhymes some claim to be the return of Pac while they're out here slangin’ pop that should be unheard of but they call that shit murdaaahahah then this magazine crowns someone else the king and claims they know something about this Hip-Hop thing all these cats are just bitches tryin’ to use Pac to make their riches but no matter how many times they told ya they’re not a goddamn souljah
Souljah Souljah
(All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah like Pac All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin' Souljah)
I can't take these broken wings or the pain it brings when you take Pac and you make pop
(All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah like Pac All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin’ Souljah)
How Long Will They Mourn Me? every muthafuckin’ day homie you stayed down when those bitches acted phony I still remember the night 11:50 on the MTV News it hit me earlier that day 4:03 you learned if there's a heaven for a G I felt a sorrow and a pain that to this day I still can't explain I wanted to cry but couldn't my eyes stayed dry and they wouldn't I didn't shed a tear ‘cause I know you were never happy here September 13, 1996 that was the day the music died naw that's just the day these muthafuckaz tried ‘cause your shit's still banging and I feel it daily even though you saw death around the corner the world wasn’t ready to mourn ya we weren't ready for the Ballad Of A Dead Souljah alive rumors still circulate most because you were so great I don't know what to believe but I'm willing to wait and see but if not is there a heaven for a G and is there a place up there for me?
(All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin’ Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I wanted to be was a Souljah a Souljah All I ever wanted to be was a muthafuckin’ Souljah)
